Dream Cars

10Mar10

Friday I saw someone driving one of these around Pensacola. I’m pretty sure it’s out of my price range even with the Ford Family discount I could get through my brother…lol

It’s always exciting to meet your child for the first time. On December 12, I gleefully became the father of a little girl and, I might add,  just in time to receive a tax break.

Hannah Grace made her appearance at 11:21 p.m. She greeted us with cries that sounded like a kitten’s meow. The first thing I noticed was how similar yet distinctively different she looked from my son. I expected her to have light colored hair and fair skin. She had dark hair with fair skin. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. and measured 20 inches.

Consensus says she looks like me. I’ve assured people she’ll grow out of it. Either way, she sure is a pretty. =)

The picture of JFK in the Oval Office sitting behind the resolute desk with his son peering out from underneath has always touched my heart. Today we visited a touring Presidential Museum, courtesy of Calvin and Janet,  and as I was getting my picture taken in the mock up of the Oval office my son climbed underneath the replica of Kennedy’s famous desk and poked his head out from underneath. It was pretty neat.

Youth ministers and ministry is culture all its own. This video cracked me up. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.

I have friends who are wedding photographers and they’re always posting sneak peeks of thier shoots. So I’m borrowing a page out of their book. See more pictures this Wednesday at youth group.

DSC_0799We were one of  the first cars to pull into the parking lot Saturday morning. I could see Thomas parked at the station. I could barley contain my enthusiasm in seeing Tripp’s response to the life size engine. As we walked toward the Depot Tripp grinned from ear to ear  as he spotted the ”cheeky” blue engine. Enthusiastically he proclaimed,”Momma, Dadda, Thomas!”  As the three of us walked hand in hand we waved and yelled, “Hi Thomas!”

The funny thing is as first time parents we were determined not to let our child become one of those children obsessed with over commercialized entities. You know characters like Lighting McQueen and Dora the Explorer, or, and I shudder to think, Barney.

However, before we knew it we had fallen in love with Thomas the tank engine. Now our living room is overrun with Thomas and friends. To solidify our sellout we took Tripp to Calera, Alabama in March for A Day Out with Thomas.

In the end Christina and I were as excited as Tripp to ride the life size Thomas. Choo Choo!
